Our Focus on Food Safety

Clean Room Food Processing Systems,
Methods, and Structures Patent

West Liberty Foods recently received a patent on
innovative clean room food processing systems
that reduce the risk of pathogens contaminating
food products. This technology reduces the
likelihood that pathogens will be able to enter the
food processing facility, or spread should they be
able to enter.

Our patented facilities include a number of separate
rooms for processing the food products, each with its
own processing lines, air handling systems, drain
systems, supplies, and tools. Different air pressures
within the various areas of the facility limit the
possible movement of airborne food pathogens, and
sanitizing stations are in place between the various
areas of the facility.

See U.S. patent number 7,707,931 issued
May 4, 2010 for details.

          Food Safety & Robotics

Through the use of technology, we are able to maximize food safety by minimizing human contact. The robot ensures sanitary consistency across all product lines, and increases product quality and employee safety. Our robot can transfer up to 4,131 ten-foot logs per day!

Ten-Foot Logs Are Truly Unique

West Liberty Foods was the first manufacturer in the United States to use 10-foot logs in every day slicing operations. Ten-foot logs enhance food safety because the handling is minimal. Logs do not come in to human contact until they are in their specified ready-to-eat areas and run through a sanitation wash.
