West Liberty, Iowa – Representatives from West Liberty Foods, L.L.C. held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 10, 2006, at the site of the future home of their fourth plant in Tremonton, Utah.

Special guests included Representative Rhonda Menlove, Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., and Tremonton Mayor Max Weese.  “I couldn't be more pleased about West Liberty Foods' decision to make this very significant investment and expand its operations in Utah,” said Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr.

The plant, due for completion in late summer 2007, will comprise 217,000 square feet and house separate facilities for fabrication, slicing and cold storage.

“While researching several locations for our new plant, Utah showed us why we should come to their state,” said Ed Garrett, president and chief executive officer of West Liberty Foods.  “West Liberty Foods has been built on partnerships. The partnerships we have formed with the local government and community in Tremonton have given us the support we need to pursue new opportunities to better serve our customers.”

Paul Hill, West Liberty Foods’ chairman, stated, “My heart is in Tremonton, Utah.  West Liberty Foods blends in exceptionally well with the local community of farmer-owners. It is very fitting that we bought this exact land from the farmer that previously raised 20,000 turkeys on it.”

Headquartered in West Liberty, Iowa, the company has manufacturing facilities in West Liberty, Mount Pleasant, and Sigourney, Iowa.

West Liberty Foods is a leading co-packer, private label manufacturer and foodservice supplier of sliced processed meat and poultry products.
